Zachary Gamble and Laura Shipman have been selected as the Career & Technical Education Students of the Month at John Marshall High School for January.

Gamble is a senior in the Computer Systems Repair program and is the son of Keith and Sandra Gamble of Moundsville. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and the JMHS Film Club.

“Having experience before going out into the workforce or college will give me a leg up allowing the transition from high school to college a lot easier,” said Gamble. “The curriculum in Mr. Gaudino’s class is designed for group and solo work, which forces students to learn how to prioritize their time for the group and each individual.” He will enroll at West Virginia University to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering.

Shipman is a senior in the Plant Systems program and is the daughter of David and Nicole Shipman. She is a member of 4-H and likes to show livestock. Shipman currently serves as the head grower for the school’s greenhouse.

“I’ve learned how to problem solve by being a member of the simulated workplace company, “Boots and Roots,” explained Shipman. “Participating in real-world experience while in school helps you to learn from your mistakes so you don’t make them again.” She will attend Alderson Broaddus University to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Education and minor in Special Education.
