JMHS Percussion Ensemble Earns National Accolade
The John Marshall High School Percussion Ensemble traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). The eight-member group competed in the High School Division Percussion Ensemble Competition, which included 11 other groups from around the country.
The John Marshall Percussion Ensemble earned third place with their performance of “Wanderlust” by Pittsburgh-based composer Chad Heiny. This published piece was commissioned by the John Marshall Percussion Ensemble in 2020, and is available for purchase through tapspace.com.
Ensemble members include: Jude Thomas, Marra Tharp, Lauren Rice, Sydney Gray, Lizzy Howard, Ricky Robinson, Liam Marlin and Joey Armstrong. The band director is Tracey Filben and the percussion instructor is Josh Garrett.
